![]() Members of the Grove of the Forest Druid are encouraged to practice at least one divination technique. Numerology is one of the suggested techniques. In many respects numerology is easier to learn than astrology and even than tarot, yet it is still very powerful and useful. Numerology is the study of numbers, and their occult meanings. Everything is energy and so everything has a vibrational pattern, even your name and your birth date. Letters have a numeric value that provides a related cosmic vibration. The sum of the numbers in your birth date and the sum of value derived from the letters in the name provide an interrelation of vibrations. These numbers show a great deal about character, purpose in life, what motivates, and where talents may lie. Pythagoras, the Greek mathematician who lived from 569-470 B.C., is often credited with the origination numerology. However, the actual origins of numerology predate Pythagoras and may go back at least as far as Hebrew Kabbalah. Every letter in the Hebrew alphabet has a corresponding number. Your life-path number is one of the most important numbers in numerology. This number represents who you are at birth and the native traits that you will carry with you through life. It is computed as the sum of your birth date. For example, if you were born on June 15, 1982 then your birthday could be written as 6/15/1982 or even 6 + 15 + 1982 and 6 + 15 = 21, and 21 + 1982 = 2003. Now add up the digits in 2003 (2 + 0 + 0 + 3 = 5) and we get the number 5. The life-path number for someone born on June 15, 1982 is 5. So what does the number 5 represent? Well here is the short version . . . The Life Path 5 suggests that an individual entered this life with a highly progressive mindset, with the attitude and skills to make the world a better place. The key words for a 5 Life Path are constructive freedom. In the pursuit of freedom, these individuals are naturally versatile, adventurous, and advanced in their thinking. These people are is always striving to find answers to the many questions that life poses. The byword for the positive Life Path 5 is constant change and improvement. By the way, if you add up the numbers in your birth date and they sum to 11, 22, or 33 then the numbers should not be reduced any further. So don't turn the number 11 into a 2 or a 22 into a 4. These three numbers are called "master numbers" and are said to possess more potential than other numbers. If you are interested in studying numerology then I recommend the three following books:
